I Am Carly Rosie, a Poem & Assignment from Cultural Foundations of Education Course
I am Carly Rosie
I am homemade apple walnut pie,
I am homegrown and homespun.
I am a cook & a bit of an eater.
I am Mom. I am Honey.
I am exactly who I am supposed to be, and so are you.
I am an adventurer and a homebody.
I am a singer and a writer
I am a swimmer and an early morning walker.
A meditator and reflector.
I am an advocate and a leader.
Sometimes, I am the mouthpiece
I am the work
I am positive psychology & safe spaces.
I am a protective factor
I am right speech, right thought and often,
grumbling but doing the right thing at the right time.
I am a diplomat
I am Marblemount and Khartoum, Kampala and Lahore and Ugandan-American.
I am a BA in Elementary Education, MS Special Education, PTC & MEd*
I am grit.
I am matching it up & holding my own, most of the time.
I am Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and 2Pac.
I am Ram Dass & Alan Watts
I am Joseph Campbell, Edward Abbey and Elizabeth Wharton
I am philosophy and psychology and religious thought
I am unemployed… over the summer
I am curry and other things with rice, BLTs, cold beer and sneaky cigarettes.
I am garlic, and chocolate and coffee.
I am up early
and up to my own devices
